The Direct Selling Association of the Philippines (DSAP) marked its second general membership of the year with the theme #Accelerate, held at the Eastwood Richmonde Hotel with a full attendance of DSAP’s members and special guests.
A fitting follow through to its successful year-opener, #Accelerate was opened by Joey Sarmiento, DSAP Chairman, who shared the 2017 World Federation of Direct Selling Association (WFDSA) survey results.
The summary showed how sales and representative figures set new global records.
Global Direct Selling Sales showed 1.6% growth with 2017 global retail sales yielding USD189.6 billion. The WFDSA survey also confirmed the sustained growth over the years, as it showed compounded annual growth rate from 2014 through 2017 at 3.7%. A 2.6% growth in sales force versus the 2016 figures has given a vivid expression how the global force of independent direct selling representatives reached nearly 117 million in 2017.
DSAP Chair reported how this bespoke of a strong 2017 for the Philippines, showing an 11.5% overall sales growth (net sales); while overall recruitment registered a 15.8% growth rate.
Sarmiento echoed that it will be a bigger 2018 for DSAP, as it continues to be active with its partnership with the government for a more aggressive stance on anti-pyramiding: the draft of an anti-pyramiding law has been finalized with the legal team of Senator Miguel Zubiri and is ready for filing; launch of an information video this November; and a creation of a task force which will review the compensation plans of all MLM companies.
Apart from this, DTI Negosyo Centers are also primed to promote direct selling/MLM as a legitimate business opportunity.
As a refresher for member-companies and an overview for the incoming ones, Membership Committee Head Jiji Recto discussed the benefits of being a DSAP Member. While Bernie Mercado facilitated the lively discussion on the DSAP Code of Practice and Business Conduct ensued.
Meanwhile, guest speaker Rowen Untivero presented a fresh perspective on selling. He debunks traditional sales practices and asserted that there is an actual formula in making a sale, this he shared during his segment, “How New Selling Science Addresses Selling Issue of Direct Sellers/Networkers”.
Also, another highlight of the second GMM was the presentation of the newest DSAP member company. Youngevity Philippines, led by its country manager Liza Morales was officially welcomed to DSAP’s fold as the latest and youngest member of the association.
Committee updates followed suit, and the afternoon was capped with an awarding of the certificate of membership.
