The Direct Selling Association of the Philippines (DSAP) concluded the third quarter of the year with a well-attended general membership meeting held at the JYC Hall B of Bayanihan Center in Pasig City.
DSAP Chair & Max International Vice President for Asia Joey Sarmiento pointed out the suitability of the event’s theme “Elevate/Raising the Bar” as the Association encourages all the players to embrace developments and trends in the Digital Age.
“It is just fitting to elevate and raise the bar on the use of technology to keep up with the changing times and stay relevant. We want all the member companies to take advantage of social media because it is a digital platform that helps build relationships and make our brands more accessible and popular. Using it wisely will help each member company in raising the bar in this industry,” says Sarmiento.
Sarmiento also praised the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA) for releasing its Model Code of Ethics. “This will raise the bar and strengthen the Model Code in the DSA markets. This toolkit has been cascaded to the DSAP,” he added.
Also in line with the theme Elevate/Raising the Bar, Sarmiento announced that the DSAP recently became one of the 30 partner business organizations of Pilipinas Angat Lahat Alliance. This government-backed initiative aims to strengthen Go Negosyo’s efforts to create an enabling and sustainable environment for all entrepreneurs through programs on money, market, and most importantly, mentorship. “The DSAP has also participated in the Go Negosyo’s ‘Mentor Me on Wheels.’ This project provides free one-on-one mentorship sessions to all budding entrepreneurs. We want all the member companies to be actively involved in this project by sending your key people to become volunteers and represent DSAP!”
The DSAP chair also updated the members regarding the Association’s ongoing projects with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) such as anti-pyramiding video and DSAP’s informational brochure, opportunity video and audio visual presentation for the DTI Negosyo Centers nationwide.
Member companies present were also delighted to meet the special guest speaker for the GMM – the influential mommy blogger and techpreneur Karen Pacia. Apart from stressing the importance of knowing how to use online marketing effectively, she also shared tips on how to make it work for big and small businesses. “In online marketing, you need to focus on engagement and NOT on vanity metrics such as number of LIKES and followers. In order to do that, you must learn how to sell the experience or the solution rather than the product,” says Pacia.
One of the sponsors for this event, Ben Alderson, CEO/Co-Founder of AppSell, presented how their mobile app could help direct selling companies and direct selling agents better manage their customers and efficiently market their products.
The event also welcomed the newest DSAP membership applicant – Elken Global Philippines.
Meanwhile, DSAP’s Corporate Secretary Atty. Errol Palaci of Avon Cosmetics, Inc. gave an entertaining update on the latest project of the Ways and Means Committee, which is the Movie Block Screening of Aquaman happening on December 13, 8pm at Cinema 4 of SM Megamall.
It’s time for another exhilarating movie experience with your DSAP family!
Don’t miss the most awaited Movie Block Screening of Aquaman, slated for December 13, 7PM, Cinema 4 of Building A, SM Megamall. From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that explores the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas. Aquaman, which stars Jason Momoa in the title role, highlights the fascinating story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of a lifetime — one that will not only force him to face who he really is but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be … a king.
This film also features Amber Heard (Justice League, Magic Mike XXL) as Mera, a fierce warrior and Aquaman’s ally throughout his journey; Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (Platoon, Spider-Man 2) as Vulko, counsel to the Atlantean throne; Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring films, Watchmen) as Orm/Ocean Master, the present King of Atlantis; Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables films) as Nereus, King of the Atlantean tribe Xebel; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Baywatch, Netflix’s The Get Down) as the vengeful Black Manta; and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (The Hours, Lion) as Arthur’s mom, Atlanna.
The Aquaman movie block screening is a project of the DSAP’s Ways and Means Committee headed by DSAP Corporate Secretary Errol Palaci of Avon Philippines.
The DSAP encourages all member companies to support this fund-raising event by being one of the event sponsors and purchasing tickets for employees and Distributors. See you all there!
